Abstract
The aims of the present study were to revise the Korean version of Jungian Type Survey/the Gray-Wheelwrights Test(JTS/GW) which was drafted in 1988 and to test the reliability and validity of a revised Korean version of JTS/GW.
Based on the Psychological Typology conceptualized by C.G. Jung, the 147-preliminary item instrument has been constructed through the translation of JTS/GW(81 items) and the addition of new 66 items in 1988. 129 items from the preliminary items have been included and analyzed for the revision of the Korean version of JTS/GW, and they were administered to 479 subjects ; 285 ;emales and 194 males.
228 among 479 subjects completed the Korean versions of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator(MBTI), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ), and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory(MMPI) for the pilot test of the construct validity of JTS/GW(78 items).
The revised Korean version of JTS/GW in the current study selected 78 items through the factor analysis, and was applied to 338 subjects for the test of the re-liability and validity of the revised Korean version of JTS/GW.
The results are as follows : Cronbach¢¥s coefficients(N=286) are 0.84(IE : Introversion-Extraversion), 0.74(US : Intuition-Sensation), and 0.69(TF : Thinking-Feeling). Split-half reliability coefficients corrected by the Spearman-Brown formula are 0.84(I), 0.75(U), & 0.73(T). The test-retest reliability coefficients(N= 49) are 0.91(1), 0.71(U), & 0.66(T). The Pearson¢¥s product-moment correlation coefficients(N=46) were calculated to determine relationship between JTS/GW and MBTI, and the results are 0.82(I), 0.55(U), & 0.63(T). The correlation coefficients between Introversion of JTS/GW and other measures of introversion-ex-traversion are 0.82(I of MBTI), - 0.89(Extraversion of EPQ), & 0.79(Social Introversion of MMPI).
The results of this research indicate that the psychometric properties of the revised Korean version of JTS/GW are at least as reliable as other widely used tests. Further repetitious test of the reliability and validity of the current questionnaire should be required.
